What options are there for laying parquet flooring?

FAQ

Which type of installation should I choose?

Multi-layer parquet can be laid floating or fully glued down. As soon as underfloor heating is present, all parquet flooring must be fully glued down! Floating installation is possible for all planks with a Novoloc-5G connection system. Parquet floors with tongue and groove joint systems must always be glued to the subfloor.

There are many visual options, the selected plank and the conditions on site determine the type of installation.

Laying herringbone parquet

Herringbone parquet is timeless, a true classic and at the same time more modern than ever before. The herringbone pattern is always a popular choice and for good reason: visually it is unique and unmistakable, it looks elegant and makes rooms appear larger.

There are two types of herringbone parquet: Viennese herringbone and French herringbone. Viennese herringbone is the classic pattern that found its way into castles and manor houses centuries ago and still shines in all its glory in many old apartments today, especially in Vienna. In this laying pattern, the planks are laid at right angles to each other. Scheucher has two products for Viennese herringbone parquet in its range: the BILAflor 500 (11x70x500mm) and the MULTIflor.11 700 (11x140x700mm).

In French herringbone, also known as chevron parquet, the planks are laid at an acute 45° angle or at a wide 60° angle to each other. This creates a V-shape that offers a particularly elegant character and makes any room appear larger. The French herringbone installation is the modern version of herringbone parquet and is often combined with an edge frieze, creating a visual frame for the entire room. It is advisable to combine it with a border frieze in larger rooms. Scheucherparkett offers two products for French herringbone parquet: the MULTIflor.11 500 60° and the MULTIflor.11 740 45°.

Floating installation

With floating installation, the planks are clicked together and do not need to be glued to the subfloor. Due to the multi-layer structure of engineered parquet, movement of the wood can be significantly reduced, which makes floating installation possible at all. In general, all WOODflor products from Scheucher can be laid floating: here we differentiate between 1-strip planks and 3-strip parquet.

Floating installation is very quick and easy, so this type of installation can also be carried out by yourself if you have the necessary knowledge. In addition, planks can be easily removed again, which is ideal if damage needs to be repaired or the living situation is temporary. Do you expect to move again in 5 years? No problem, the parquet flooring can be easily removed and taken with you to your next home.

If underfloor heating is present, floating installation is not possible! This is important because full-surface bonding in the presence of underfloor heating can significantly reduce movement of the parquet flooring and the associated formation of joints. Full-surface bonding

Full-surface bonding of parquet flooring is always advisable, especially if there are climatic fluctuations, the surfaces are subject to heavy use or underfloor heating is present. Other advantages of full-surface gluing of the parquet include better load-bearing capacity, improved room acoustics and increased resistance. With this type of installation, the parquet planks are glued to the subfloor, so the wooden floor can work less, which can prevent gaps from forming and improves impact sound insulation. The following Scheucher product groups must be fully glued down: MULTIflor and BILAflor.
