Which sorting should I select?

FAQ

What grades are available? Which grading suits my ideas of parquet?

Every tree is unique in its shape and structure. Depending on how the tree has grown, different looks result during further processing. The tree can be full of knotholes and grains, or it can be kept uniform and discreet. This results in different grades for parquet flooring.

The grades can be very rustic or uniform and calm throughout. Scheucher defines its own guidelines for this, which describe exactly which grading may be pronounced and to what extent. This means that the highest quality standards can be met for every eye. Discover our high-quality grades here.

Which sorting is the right one?

The answer to this question depends on several factors: what look are you going for? How intensively should the parquet floor be accentuated? What style is desired? Where will the wooden floor be laid? Are there children or pets in the household?

First of all, the most important factor is probably the look or style you are aiming for. For a rural house in a country house style, for example in the vineyards or the Alps, rustic grades are an excellent choice. In this case, many customers opt for rustic oak or knotty oak. If you are looking for a very rustic oak parquet, we recommend our “country” grade. If the wooden floor is to have knotholes, but to a lesser and smaller extent, we recommend our “knotty” grade.

For modern houses, a calm grade is usually selected. The wooden floor then generally blends in and appears cleaner. Scheucher offers all types of wood in calm grades, we call this grade “natural”. Discover a variety of options here.

In general, a rustic parquet floor is always advisable if children or pets live in the household. The reason for this is that minor scratches or stains are hardly noticeable on a rustic floor. Quite the opposite: external influences often look as if they have always been there. Rustic styles are also a popular choice for large rooms, as they make the room appear larger and the wooden floor stands out more.

Another key decision factor is the plank selected. For large planks, such as 1-STRIP planks, customers tend to opt for rustic grades. For smaller planks, which are used for a herringbone installation, for example, calm grades such as natural oak tend to be selected. The reason for this is that this type of installation creates visual unrest and calm grades counteract this.
