FAQ Current

Decades of experience, precise workmanship and unique innovations are combined in the professional surface treatments from Scheucher Parkett and lead to robust and exceptional results that protect your wooden floor from various influences and make everyday life easier. In addition to natural oiled parquet, the Scheucher range also offers three versions of the highest quality lacquered parquet finishes that are unique on the parquet market. This is why Scheucher has relied on a competent partnership with the supplier Bona for many years, with whom the finishing process is constantly optimized.

Our contribution to the Austrian Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology's National Action Plan 2024

As with Scheucher, Bona's focus is not only on strict quality requirements, but also on environmental awareness and healthy living. We are therefore particularly proud to be a pioneer in PFAS-free products together with Bona and to be at the forefront of environmental responsibility. All lacquered surfaces (PUROtec, Tenseo X-Matt, Tenseo Classico) from Scheucher Parkett are therefore confirmed PFAS-free.

The Austrian Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology also envisages Austria's comprehensive commitment to reducing perfluorinated and polyfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS ) in its National Action Plan 2024.

And although the wood industry is not one of the most affected industries, we would like to make our contribution in this way.

But what actually are PFAS?

The perfluorinated and polyfluorinated alkyl substances are a group of artificially produced chemicals that are used worldwide in a wide variety of industrial processes and consumer products. Due to their thermal and chemical stability and their ability to repel oil and water and be resistant to heat, they are used in the production of polymers, impregnation of textiles, leather and paper products, but also in fire extinguishing foams, cosmetics and food packaging and much more. However, they are also notorious for their persistence in the environment and their potentially harmful effects on health.

PFAS, also known as “eternity chemicals”, can be found worldwide in soil, water - especially groundwater and drinking water, air, food and even in our bodies. To meet these health and environmental challenges, our common goal is to eliminate existing contamination both globally and locally and to prevent further releases and accumulation in the environment.

Environmental benefits of PFAS-free production

All Bona coatings and subsequently Scheucher parquet floors are 100% PFAS-free with the same high quality that Bona and Scheucher are known for. When you choose Scheucher parquet with Bona's PFAS-free coatings, you are doing the following:

  • Protection of water resources: PFAS can contaminate water supplies. With our PFAS-free products, you help to ensure clean water for future generations, as no PFAS are released into the wash water during wet cleaning.
  • Promotion of biodiversity: By reducing PFAS pollution, you are helping to protect wildlife and their habitats.
  • Supporting a healthier planet: Every step we take to reduce harmful chemicals in our environment contributes to a more sustainable future and a healthier world.
